Overflow is an online giving platform for churches and nonprofits that helps you accept cash, stock, crypto, and DAF gifts in one unified church giving platform, with analytics, migration support, and donor help built in.

How much does it cost to get started with Overflow?

Accepted Answer

Overflow uses an annual subscription plus processing fees for card, ACH, stock, crypto, and DAF gifts. Annual pricing starts at $1200 per year and scales according to the size of your organization. Credit/debit cards: 2.5% + $0.30 per transaction. ACH donations: 0.5% + $0.20 per transaction. Non-cash donations: 3% or lower per transaction.

Is giving through Overflow safe and secure?

Yes. Overflow's Information Security Program is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and follows strict criteria set forth by the SOC 2 Framework. Overflow does not have access to nor store any brokerage account login information; Overflow uses Yodlee, a third-party provider, to handle the brokerage account login process.

What types of financial reports can we generate?

Overflow's reporting home page lets you quickly switch between pre-configured and custom reports, giving immediate access to financial insights, whether you are reviewing overall donations or drilling down into specific trends.

Why doesn't Overflow Tap support App Clips?

Accepted Answer

Overflow chose not to support App Clips because they only work on iOS, cannot support dynamic redirection, limit customization, add friction for first-time guests, and do not work cleanly with ProPresenter. Overflow Tap uses dynamic links so every person on every device gets the same instant next step.

What kinds of gifts can our church accept with Overflow?

Your church can accept credit and debit, ACH, Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as stock, crypto, Donor Advised Fund (DAF) grants, and RoundUps. All of these flow into one online giving platform for churches so reporting stays simple.

Which cryptocurrencies can I donate?

Accepted Answer

Cryptocurrencies that are compliant and accepted within the United States can be given through Overflow's crypto donation processing platform. The Giving Block maintains an up-to-date list of supported cryptocurrencies. For unsupported coins, email support@overflow.co; it is sometimes possible to facilitate the donation off-platform.

What specific stock could I donate?

Accepted Answer

Overflow supports the transfer of any publicly traded stock exchanged on the US stock market, as well as ETFs and mutual funds, though brokerage-imposed restrictions may apply depending on the fund and gift value.

Question 9

What is the tax benefit of donating appreciated stock?

Accepted Answer

When donors give appreciated stock instead of selling it first, they may be able to avoid capital gains tax and may be eligible to deduct the fair market value of the gift, subject to IRS rules. Donors should consult their tax advisor for personal guidance.

What is a Donor Advised Fund?

A Donor Advised Fund is an investment account created for charitable giving. Donors can give to your church from a DAF and, in many cases, receive tax advantages compared to giving cash. Overflow makes it easier to route those DAF gifts directly to your ministry.

What is the benefit of giving via a DAF?

Accepted Answer

The main benefit of a DAF is the ability to make a donation and take an immediate tax deduction while waiting to decide how the donation should be used. The donation is irrevocable but can grow tax-free in the DAF while the decision is made.

I'm ready to give from my DAF, but where do I begin?

Accepted Answer

Click the Donate from DAF button on your nonprofit's give page, or select the Donate from DAF option as a payment method within the cash donation experience.

Question 13

Can I give from my retirement account?

Accepted Answer

It depends. Overflow can process whole shares of publicly traded stock, including from retirement accounts (401K, 403b, Roth IRA, and Traditional IRA). Donors may incur a tax penalty for early withdrawals before age 59.5, and some employer plans do not allow early distribution, so consult a tax professional first.

Does Overflow support gifts from my brokerage account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Overflow can help facilitate stock gifts from many major brokerage accounts and supports eligible gifts from certain retirement accounts, depending on the donor's situation. Overflow's donor support team guides givers through each step.
